The Lagos State Government has made a symbolic presentation of cheques to some beneficiaries of the N1 Billion seed capital, as approved by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu. This disbursement was for the purpose of investment in tourism and hospitality sectors to bring about new growth in the industries.

Mrs. Folashade Jaji, the Secretary to the State Government, made the presentation to the beneficiaries on behalf of the Governor at the maiden edition of Lagos Tourism, Hospitality, Arts and Culture Economic Summit (LATHACE). The summit was held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island.

The Governor, who was represented by the SSG, spoke at the event organized by the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), Lagos State Chapter, in collaboration with the Ministry. He appreciated the organizers for partnering with the State Government in ensuring that the tourism and recreation sector had a stable system for sustenance.

While speaking on the theme of the event: “Public Private Partnership for Sustainable Growth of the Tourism, Arts and Culture Industry for a Greater Lagos,” the Governor said that the theme itself attested to the importance which his administration had attached to public-private partnership. He also stated that there were so many opportunities for growth within the sector, despite the fact that the tourism and recreation industry contributed approximately 6% to the State’s GDP. He also added that the opportunities for growth could be strengthened through a collaboration with the private sector to harness its full potentials.

Finally, he assured members of FTAN that the present administration would work towards leveraging on a meaningful partnership with the private sector towards achieving “A Greater Lagos” as promised to all residents of the State.
